Mission StatementOur mission is to win people of
all ages to Christ and build them up in the Christian faith and life.
Northeast Iowa Christian Camp - History
In September of 1962, the Waterloo
Church of Christ (now River'sEdge Christian Church) invited men of the area
Church of Christ / Christian Churches to a spaghetti dinner and a program. This
was the beginnning of the Area Men's Fellowship. At this first meeting it was
decided to have a project for the Men's Fellowship. Several suggestions were
made including the building of a camp. The men were asked to go back to their
congregations and discuss the various options and return in a month to make a
decision. At the next meeting, the camp was chosen as the Men's Fellowship
project. Previously the area churches had rented grounds to host church camp
yearly but this was costly and during the least desireable time periods. Pine
Lake Christian Camp in Eldora was one camp that was rented with all ages
attending the same week of camp.

Joey Hawkins
-I am the Caretaker and Director of NEICSC. My hometown is Anamosa, Iowa and I attended Martelle Christian Church growing up. I recently graduated from Ozark Christian College with a Bachelor of Christian Ministry. I attended camp a few times in middle school and high school and really fell in love with the place my senior year. I have worked on staff almost every summer since then and have been challenged and changed by this place. God has given me a heart to both work with my hands and with people, and serving NEICSC as Caretaker and Director is a ministry that I am thankful to God for each day. I love this camp and look forward to meeting and serving alongside you!

Kara Curry - Camp Registrar
I am a member of the Clarion Church of Christ in Clarion, IA, where I also serve as the Church Secretary and my husband Warren is the Minister. I am blessed to have a wonderful husband and three great boys: Benjamin, Caleb & Nicolas. Camp has a very special place in my heart as I accepted Jesus as my Lord & Savior and was baptized at a Church Camp in Northern MN. I look forward to serving the camp as they continue to reach more youth for Christ. |

Questions About CampHow do I get to camp?
NEICSC is located west of Bristow, Iowa off county road C-33. Turn south on
Forest Avenue which is a gravel road to the camp property. Bristow is north of
Highway 3 - 17 miles east of Hampton and 8 miles west of Allison.
Can
I send a letter to my child at camp? You are welcome to send camper mail to
the address listed below. You may also drop off a letter and/or package at camp
and designate the day for us to deliver it. Warning: your child may be forced
to sing or tell a joke if he or she receives a package or more than three
letters in a day!
NEICSC - 19268 Forest Avenue - Dumont,
IA 50611 Can I send e-mail? We do not currently offer e-mail for
campers.
What should I take to camp? We recommend taking along a
Bible, pencil, notebook, bedding, pillow, toiletries, towels, washcloths,
sunscreen, bug repellent, clothes for warm and cool days, clothes to get messy
in, tennis shoes, and a modest swimsuit which includes a one-piece for girls or
a dark t-shirt to cover up.
Is there a dress code? In matters of
dress, modesty must prevail. Bare midriffs, short shorts, short dresses, tight
apparel, and inappropriate secular advertisements are not permitted. Shirts are
to be worn by males in public at all times except while swimming. One piece
suits should be worn by females unless covered by a dark t-shirt.
What if my child becomes homesick? We want your child to remain
at camp and would welcome any specific advice you might have. We encourage you
to send a letter or package but discourage phone contacts. Most times, if the
child is convinced that the parent wants them to stay at camp and he/she is
reassured the parent will come for them on the planned departure date - he/she
is able to re-integrate into the camp program successfully.
Is the
camp cost refundable? Refunds may be requested in writing 10 days prior to
that week's start date and will be minus a $25 fee. Amounts may be transferred
to another camper or session. No refunds will be given to campers that leave
early unless due to an emergency.
What is a canteen card? All
money brought to camp should be exchanged at registration for a canteen card.
It may be used to purchase items during canteen time as well as for mission
offerings. Canteen is usually offered twice per whole day and once on partial
days. Most food/drinks sell for $.50 while Gatorade and water cost $1.00. Any
remaining balance at week's end will be donated to the mission of the week.
Will I receive a t-shirt? All campers and volunteer staff will
receive one free t-shirt per summer.
How do I volunteer to work at
camp? There are many positions available during camp weeks: team leaders,
junior staff, teachers, RN/LPN, and cooks to name a few. You may contact the
week's dean or the camp director to apply or express your interest. |
